All right, so the show will officially open tomorrow…finally. Everyone is welcome to change and update the composition with their own work. Try to think about the composition as a whole and what would benefit it, and in the end we could end up with something great.

As it is now… here are some photos: www.nickwoods.us/gallery.html

Revise Clean-up

Initially, it was great to see everyone so involved in the Revise project on Friday during class, and we’ve all had a part in the work that’s gone up on the walls. But, Friday after 2:30, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday there was only a portion of the class involved in painting, cleaning, organizing and otherwise finishing the show. I can’t help but feel that people missed an opportunity to display their work, as posters and other items were not hung by those who made them. It’s a group project, and I guess I just assumed everyone realized it would take a great deal of work outside of class to finish. Granted, we all have responsibilities and priorities, but those of us who stayed and worked on the project made arrangements and sacrifices to be there.

Unfortunately, the show cannot open until the mess is cleaned, so please, come pick up your work if you have any left at the gallery (or just put it up on the wall) today. That way, we can open the show that was supposed to open on Monday.

Thank you

City data

Just because there are those of you who are working on stuff about Detroit…  I was looking up city data for somewhere else, cause I’m moving, and thought I’d see what people say about Detroit, too…

What do you like about Detroit?
The DIA, the industrial ruins the city is left in, the old buildings in the city.

What do you dislike about Detroit?
The crime, you cant walk down the street without worry of being robbed or shot.

What are your favorite parts of the city to live and/or hang out in?
ann arbor

How expensive is it?
in detroit not very…

Is it safe?
thats a silly question… of course it isnt.

How is the weather?
very cold…very unpredictable… lots of snow.

Additional thoughts?
if you come to detroit… please be careful.

More than 5 people said that Ann Arbor was one of their favorite parts of Detroit to hang out it… honestly, this is a big problem when people can’t identify where Detroit is located… it still bothers me that everyone says they’re from Detroit in the Detroit area, even if they live in the suburbs, and yet they don’t actually support the city.

i’m not your screenprinting clean-up bitch

dear fellow students,

i’m writing to you because i’ve found screens that have paint in them or haven’t been cleaned properly. i don’t mind cleaning a few from mistakes that people have made, but i refuse to clean up many. it is a waste of my time and a waste of the gallery’s money. please take care of the public screens so that future students can use them and so that it doesn’t screw people over who have a time budget.

thanks, sarah
