it is halloween again in the great city of ypsi, there is nothing really to excited about just another holiday to distract on whats really going on, we got drought, half of cali is on fire, ice caps are melting, earthquake and tsunami are beating and drowning indonesia, war that isnt televized anymore, and civil war in foreign countries, but yet we still are worried about if my neighbor gives out full size candy. look at the bigger picture, all of that has been happening all year.  the truth and the light is the way, be safe

All right, so the show will officially open tomorrow…finally. Everyone is welcome to change and update the composition with their own work. Try to think about the composition as a whole and what would benefit it, and in the end we could end up with something great.

anyway, when I went to help clean-up tonight I grabbed all of the tiled pieces that were not hung up on the walls, I have class in the morning so I’ll be dropping everything off in the lab. So if you still want to hang your piece up in the gallery everything should be there. I’ll be going over to the gallery with a few things tomorrow around 11 to hang them up.

the gallery is looking pretty swell so I encourage everyone to go and take a look. A lot of hardwork  went into painting and screening and cleaning. Plus, it should be changing every once in a bit so go more than once!

ok so yesterday on myspace there was a live interaction with Barack Obama, did any one watch it? It lasted for about an hour and it was pretty cool because you could ask him questions and he would answer them live on myspace.  They had a live vote where he would talk about specific topics about his poitics and you could vote and rate the topics live on myspace, pretty cool huh!

Initially, it was great to see everyone so involved in the Revise project on Friday during class, and we’ve all had a part in the work that’s gone up on the walls. But, Friday after 2:30, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday there was only a portion of the class involved in painting, cleaning, organizing and otherwise finishing the show. I can’t help but feel that people missed an opportunity to display their work, as posters and other items were not hung by those who made them. It’s a group project, and I guess I just assumed everyone realized it would take a great deal of work outside of class to finish. Granted, we all have responsibilities and priorities, but those of us who stayed and worked on the project made arrangements and sacrifices to be there.

Unfortunately, the show cannot open until the mess is cleaned, so please, come pick up your work if you have any left at the gallery (or just put it up on the wall) today. That way, we can open the show that was supposed to open on Monday.

It’s really starting to look good in the student center! I just wanted to say that I think everyone is doing a great job! I have brought people by and they think that it looks great already! It’s going to be really important that we keep adding things to it. I can’t wait to see how it ends up on the last day…it’s also going to be really sad to paint over everyone’s hard work. Sorry, I can not make it on Tuesday for clean up. I started to clean things on Monday night, but I have plans that can not be broken. Let me know if you need any help or to bring in anything.

So, I finally got around to watching this after Ryan gave me his ever so helpful link (thank you!)

so my thoughts on this movie: visually interesting and plotline. Did I like it as much as I thought I would…no.

I’ve watched a lot of silent films before and I found it really hard to follow along at times, and in a few scenes the word slides were too long and kept on the screen for far too short a time.

and the whole story was neat. but I just wasn’t feeling it. The ending really soured things for me. There is nothing more annoying than the type of ending this thing had. I won’t ruin it for some people who may want to see it still, but know I was sorely dissapointed.

There were a few cool things though. I like how the scenes transition from “normal” to the skewed expressionism style. The make up was SPECTACULAR. The somnambulist and Dr. Caligari’s faces were amazing. They were really able to age the actor who played caligari which was difficult to do back in the day. The acting was quite good,you could really read the emotion on the faces of the actors.

also I learned a new word: somnambulist. I’m not telling you, go look it up.

So all in all if I had to choose between german expressionist art or movies, then I would probably choose the art.

This is totally off subject of Graphic Design, but does anyone anyplace thats hiring???????? When is the deadline for the student show?? and where can I get an application??
