Updated idea

Okay, after talking with all you guys in crit today and getting lots of really good feedback, I questioned my approach. I decided, why not put a spin on this?… maybe a drug company hired me because they were sick of drab, borring design. Anyway, after apply suggestions from the class, I redid the packaging for my product and came up with my swiss imspired design. I know minor tweeking is still nessessary -just not at the moment!

Take a look. The syringe will be placed on the same angle as the blown up version.  Scale-wise, the needle would stick out at the white line pointing towards the benifits if all works out as planned. Please let me know what you guys think. I will post the brochure when it’s ready.

Thank you,

Matt

Louis Vuitton Superflat Video

For everyone who hasn’t seen the work by Takashi Murakami (who both myself and someone else I saw in the lab are doing projects about right now). Murakami and his studio Kai Kai Kiki Co., Ltd. made this short video to promote Murakami’s Superflat monogram design being put out by Louis Vuitton. Superflat being a Japanese pop-culture inspired art style that Murakami is credited with creating.

I don’t think this was intended for American audiences though, which is too bad. It would be awesome to randomly see this on TV one night.

Feedback Please

I’m designing a product and brochure… the product is basically an injectable fluid to give you instant gratification for whatever you want. I’m trying to make it look medial and realistic even though reading the type indicates otherwise. I sometimes have trouble with the standard brochure format, but I want to keep with it for this project…so please, any feedback would be nice… (save the Britney jokes though… she is more or less a place holder for now). Also, I want it to look very clean, but I’m not sure a white background would work so i blew up the more interesting portion of the Necrosis logo and gave soft coloring for a background… not sure if this is working or not.

The book as a spatial experience…

pic3.jpg
I came across this project recently, found it absolutely intriguing…artist Olafur Eliasson created this piece, a laser-cut negative space rendering of his house in 85:1 scale. 452 pages of just laser cut pages. As this technology becomes more readily available, imagine what designers can do with books when we have to consider the spatial experience more and more. You can read more about it here: http://www.origamitessellations.com which seems to be a great site for paper craft/engineering artwork.

Winter 2008 Survey

This semester we are hoping to set meeting times and locations that make the most sense to the greatest number of students. We would also like to know what can be done to make the AIGA Student Group more usefull for the whole design program. To help us do this, please take a minute and fill out the Winter 2008 Survey.

Got an internship

At Draft FCB in NYC

Thank you EMU graphic design professor triumvirate!  No doubt the projects you guys gave helped me get my foot in the door… also they said the web experience I had was helpful.  It’s a 10-week internship, so now I just have to find a subway tunnel to live in for a while…
