Art Dept Broshizel

Hey everyone, here it is so far. I Still have a lot of content to add… Anyone have descriptions of the different concentrations?? Anyway…Remember my theme was loosely based on alchemy…. I started out with something way busier and more hectic… then when i started to turn off some layers… this idea emerged… it’s way more abstract, but I like it (I don’t know why fire and things like that took 2 weeks to pop into my head while thinking about alchemy??WTF)… Also… as it is now, if you had two of these folded open, you could place the back side against the front and have one long ass poster.

P.S. EVERYONE SHOULD POST SOMETHING!!!! POST OR DIE

oh, and sorry about the jpeg quality… the pdf version is just too damn big to post…. so deal with it! I love pixels!

Front/Back or…. outside/inside

Chermayeff Geismar logos

Ivan Chermayeff, and partner Tom Geismar, have made over 300 logos. Here is a nifty little movie showcasing several of them. I personally have been a fan of several of these, they communicate mostly through abstraction, are simple, elegant, and to the point. Nothing fancy here. Enjoy.

Subway motion graphics

So, every day I ride the subway to work, between 14th and 23rd street I see this advertisment on the walls of the tunnel. Some company actually painted or placed posters frame by frame for this quick little auto advertisement. It’s a great concept! Of course, it could be severely abused, but what if people created animated graffiti?? Those subway tunnels are so boring, and it’d be awesome if there was something like that…

top 10 student questions

i saw this on the speak up page (i also found some things that other people had already found) http://www.underconsideration.com/speakup/archives/004449.html.  it might be of some use if you dont like asking questions aloud.  anyway, the most interesting part was the illegal downloading debate that carried on throughout.  first of all, im a pretty moral and honest guy but ive done my share of shady shit – im no saint so im not going to try to justify opinions or actions just give some insight into the method.
the world is in flux, technology (the internet) is making everything readily available if the price is not right.  with new jobs paying less and the cost of living rising, manufacturers should concentrate on making products cheaper for mass consumption as opposed to marking it up for a core consumer.  look at world of warcraft for crying out loud – sales are amazing because it is cheap….and nerdy.

as far as music goes – musicians should think of albums as a marketing tool.  its going to leak and spread and sales will go down, however, the exposure of never-ending mix-tapes being heard all over the world can be very profitable.  get on the road and tour. you cant download stickers, t-shirts, and the live experience.

Makeshift Screenprinting

Sorta happened upon this. Don’t know if anyone had seen this before, but I found it interesting. Don’t know if I’d try this for any projects in class without first trying it out for a personal project.
