BathHouse redesign launches

bhouse.png

This Friday, April 25, BathHouse hypermedia journal goes live with the reveal of their re-designed website, designed by EMU alum and frequent contributor to this blog Nick Woods.

The site boasts a new user-friendly interface and will experiment with innovative ways for readers to interact.

At the site you will find:
• Archived and current BH issues
• Regularly updated Artist-spotlights
• Bi-weekly BH “finds” (presentations of great journals, artists, and organizations to inspire and connect you)
• Submission and current staff info.

Visit them this Friday at: BHjournal.com

Sarah Smarch
Editor-in-Chief
BathHouse Hypermedia Journal
www.bhjournal.com

Edited by current Creative Writing graduate students at Eastern Michigan University, BathHouse promotes interdisciplinary and hybrid arts with a special emphasis on language and innovation. We are interested in art that blurs the lines of conventional form and genre.

PS: They are always looking for designers to work on various projects, so drop Sarah Smarch a line if you are interested.

Jennifer Stucker, a current EMU graduate student, will have her MFA thesis exhibition, common abnormalities: juxtapositions in (a)typical modes, opening today April 21 running through May 1st. It is definitely worth checking out if you are around. Her exhibition is in the student gallery in the new Student Union. There will be a reception April 27th from 1-3pm.

For those of you that are undergrads, you should go see what the grad students are up to and be inspired.

TOLEDO portfolio review

All,

This weekend AIGA Toledo is hosting a student portfolio review in Bowling Green, OH. The format will be similar to the one we hosted. All students are welcome to attend. This is encouraged if you live or plan to live in Ohio as it might be a good idea to network with some Ohio based designers.http://toledo.aiga.org/events/2008/04/17182862

Pieces of Brooklyn

picture-1.png

A friend of mine collects all the weird stuff he finds on the streets of Brooklyn, so we made a quick little test animation of what some of it could do. We’re making a music video with the stuff this summer.

where the wild things are

i found this test footage from spike jonze’s where the wild thing are movie. its looks fantastic. the kid is actually uglier than the monster. i’ve heard that jonze may be removes from the film for various reasons and i hope that does not come to fruition. this clip gave me an ultimate nerd out – like when i saw those two seconds of colossus in x2!also, dave eggers wrote the screenplay – you may know him from “a heartbreaking work of staggering genius”, its a book – go read it. its funny and its sad and he also runs a publisher called mcsweeny’s.

Wanderlust

Has anyone seen this video? It’s pretty bizarre… it looks like intricate claymation mixed with digital stuff. Everything is so detailed… just look at the water.
